Monthly Sentinel-2 change detection pipeline for forest monitoring and REDD+ reporting.
Automated bi-temporal forest change detection using Sentinel-2 and pygeovision's ChangeFormer model, calibrated for tropical forest conditions in West and Central Africa. Monthly composites are compared against a 5-year baseline to detect new clearing, regrowth, and canopy degradation. Results are exported as GeoJSON with area, date, and confidence attributes compatible with REDD+ MRV reporting.
Case studies include: Atewa Range Forest Reserve (Ghana), Togo Southern Forest Belt, and DRC Équateur Province. Our results matched GLAD Alerts within 4% on independent validation plots.
Deliverables: alert pipeline, 5-year baseline composite, monthly alert GeoJSON, PDF report template for forestry ministry submission.
