About this course
This is where theory turns into files on your disk. pygeofetch unifies 22+ satellite data providers behind one Python API, so you learn one interface instead of learning Copernicus's API, then Planetary Computer's API, then USGS's API separately. By the end you'll have downloaded, reprojected, and verified real Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 scenes over Ghana — and know exactly what each step of the process is doing and why.
What you'll learn
- Install pygeofetch and pygeovision in a clean conda or pip environment
- Register for free credentials with Copernicus Data Space
- Search scenes by bounding box, date range and cloud cover, and understand every parameter
- Download GRD and L2A products with automatic checksum verification
- Reproject to UTM and export as Cloud Optimised GeoTIFF, and know why that matters
- Diagnose the most common search-returns-nothing and download-fails errors
Requirements
- Basic Python (installing packages, importing libraries, calling functions)
- Completion of Earth Observation Fundamentals recommended
