Open-Source EO Infrastructure for Institutions

Building teaching and research infrastructure that scales to 50+ concurrent students

Open-Source EO Infrastructure for Institutions
Advanced MLOps & Pipelines 1 lessons Samuel Appiah Kubi

About this course

Individual researchers can get by with a personal laptop; a department teaching 50 students at once cannot. This course is aimed at IT administrators and academic coordinators at institutions like KNUST and the University of Ghana who need to stand up shared EO compute infrastructure — JupyterHub, shared credentials, role-based access, and monitoring — once, properly, rather than each student improvising their own setup.

What you'll learn

  • Deploy JupyterHub for 50+ concurrent students on a single server
  • Configure shared pygeovision environments and data directories
  • Set up institution-level Copernicus and Planetary Computer credentials
  • Implement role-based access for students, instructors and researchers
  • Monitor compute and storage usage with a Grafana dashboard

Requirements

  • Linux system administration basics
  • Docker installed
  • Familiarity with pygeovision
